Angelite

SCIENTIFIC Angelite is a translucent to opaque blue anhydrite originally found in Peru. Its chemical formula is CaSO4, a calcium sulfate, similar minerals are barite BaSO4 barium sulfate, and celestite SrSO4 strontium sulfate. Although chemically similar, the three ions Ca, Ba, and Sr do not generally substitute for each other although they are commonly present in the same location. With prolonged exposure of anhydrite to water it converts to gypsum which expands as the conversion takes place. Drying gypsum at about 400F will convert it back to anhydrite. Extensive structural damage in the German city of Staufen im Breisgau has occurred since a 2007 geothermal drilling project allowed subsurface water to invade a layer of anhydrite below the city, causing extensive but uneven ground swelling as pockets of the anhydrite converted to gypsum. Angelite is a very soft stone and can be easily scratched USES There are no major commercial uses of angelite (anhydrite), however there is extensive use of the hydrated mineral gypsum. MEANING Angelite is thought to improve spirituality and spiritual awareness, promoting a spiritual communication with your higher self and the spiritual realm. It aligns with the throat, third eye and crown chakras. The soft blue color of angelite generally has a very calming effect on the emotions, and with the connection to the higher self, can help with emotions such as loss, anger, fear, anxiety, grief, or emotional pain.
